What's happening on Darwin City Council, with emphasis on my local ward - Waters Ward - encompassing Anula, Wulagi, Northlakes, Marrara, Malak, Karama, Berrimah and Defence Establishment, Berrimah.
I am an Alderman on the Darwin City Council, NT Australia and one of three elected members who represent the Waters Ward in the Northern Suburbs of Darwin. I have lived in the NT for 37 years, arriving in 1971 for what I thought would be a two year stint in the NT Police. I retired from the police in 2002 after 31 years service. My children, both born in the Territory have now left and live in Sydney. My desire on being elected to council in 2004 was to be the local alderman, dealing in local issues and being accessible to the residents I represent. Almost four years on, I maintain that basic principle, whilst ensuring an all-round understanding of local government.
