Biography

Having been re-elected in April, 2008 to my second term on Council, I am ready for another four years. It's been a pleasure to represent the residents of Waters Ward of the Darwin City Council since 2002. I have been a Territory resident since 1971, when I came here to join the NT Police as a young 23 year old. I remained a member of the police until 2002, when I reached retirement age. During my 31 years service I worked throughout the Territory in a number of positions. Additionally, in 1973/74, I was seconded to the Australian Police Contingent and served for 12 months as part of the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces in Cyprus (UNFICYP) – a valuable learning experience. Additionally, I was privileged to serve in a security role as a volunteer at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996. I am divorced and have a son, a daughter and two lovely grandchildren. My daughter Caitlin is married to an Army Sergeant. Community service is nothing new to me, having been involved in community activities since my teens. More recently, I am probably better known for my 18 years voluntary commitment to the Blue Light Disco. |
